Description
Genuine Bosch GPH-409 glow plug. One only.
This is a 23 volt plug for a 24 volt system. Truck territory, not car. Fitting a 12 volt plug here will destroy it, and fitting this one into a 12 volt system will leave you with an engine that never warms up.
Where it fits. The Bosch dealer label on this box reads Toyota Dyna, J05C and S05C, 1995 onwards. The cross reference list widens that to:
-
Toyota Dyna and Toyoace
-
Toyota Coaster bus
-
Hino Dutro, the Dyna's twin
- Hino J05C and J08C engines
Old Japanese trucks are the whole market here. Dynas, Dutros and Coasters came into New Zealand in real numbers and they are still doing courier runs, school buses and tip truck work. Nobody stocks parts for them.
A lot of numbers, and they all point here. Hino 19110-1220 and 067100-1830. Toyota 19110-1220, 19850-78010, 19850-78060 and 19850-89101. Daihatsu 19850-89101. Denso 0671001830. HKT PH-26.
One unit, so this is a top-up rather than a set. A J05C needs four. If you have blown one and the rest are good, this is your plug. If they are all tired, you will need three more from elsewhere.

Fitment
Anything calling for Hino 19110-1220 on a 24 volt system. Send the engine number and we will check it against the number first.
Fitting
- Confirm 24 volt before anything else. Voltage first, thread second.
- Cold engine. Truck heads are heavy iron and they hold on.
- Soak a tight one properly. Snapping a glow plug in a J05C head is a very expensive afternoon.
- Light torque, and check the glow relay while you have the loom off.
Best fitted by a qualified mechanic.
