Description
GMB GWBM-06A water pump for the BMW M30 big six. Japanese made, and we have one.
The blue carton has been knocked about for years. Open it and there is a pump that has never been bolted to anything.
The box keeps its secrets. A GWBM-06A sticker and Made in Japan, and that is all it prints. The list below comes from catalogues, and it is a long one.
This covers most of the M30 range. GMB sell it as 115-1060 as well, and between the trade guides it runs across five chassis.
- E12: 528i from 77, M535i from 80
- E23: 728i, 732i, 733i, 735i and 745i, 77 to 86
- E24: 628CSi, 633CSi, 635CSi and M635CSi, 78 to 89
- E28: 525i, 528i, 535i and M535i, 81 to 87
- E32: 735i and 735iL, 86 to 87
- E34: 530i 88 to 91, 535i 88 to 95
BMW numbers. The list runs to sixteen. Among them are 11511271436, 11511272613, 11511284694, 11511286417, 11511707190, 11511707192, 11511720892 and 11519070761. If your parts book gives any of those, this is the pump. It also sells as Airtex AW9117, Hepu P457 and Dolz B-204. Other numbers are Quinton Hazell QCP2477, Bugatti PA0207 and Graf PA380.
Fitment
BMW M30 six cylinder across the E12, E23, E24, E28, E32 and E34. The range is wide, but not every M30 car takes this one. Send us the BMW number off your old pump and we will check it against the list.
Fitting
- These engines are belt driven off the nose. Do the belt and the tensioner too.
- The M30 cooling system is worth doing properly. Thermostat, hoses and cap while you are there.
- Face cleaned back, new gasket, and do not overdo the bolts.
- Fill and bleed carefully, these are fussy about trapped air.
- Best fitted by a qualified mechanic.
