Outer CV joint for the four cylinder Passat and A4, with the ABS ring. HDK VW-001A45, made in Japan, one joint to a box.

Never fitted. The box carries its years and the joint does not.

The label gives A=30, B=53, C=33, D=77.1. So 30 teeth inside, a 53 mm seal and 33 outer spline teeth. The A45 is a 45 tooth ABS ring.

That size matches the genuine VW and Audi outer joint 3B0498099 and 8D0498099. Parts catalogues list that joint for these cars:

  • VW Passat B5 and B5.5, 1997 to 2005, four cylinder engines.
  • Audi A4 B5, 1995 to 2001, four cylinder engines.
  • Audi A6 C5, 1997 to 2005, 1.8 turbo.
  • Skoda Superb, first generation.

Count the splines. The V6 and some diesel versions take a larger joint with more splines. Count them on yours and check for the ABS ring. Or send the rego and we will confirm.

Fitting

  • Find out if your axle bolt is a stretch bolt before you think about reusing it.
  • Work the grease in, then fit the boot and pull the clamps up.
  • Torque the axle bolt to the factory figure.
  • Give the 45 tooth ring a wipe before the hub goes back together.
  • Best fitted by a qualified mechanic.

    We ship to New Zealand addresses only, including rural delivery. Orders are
    dispatched within 1–3 business days. Once dispatched, NZ Post usually takes 2–3
    business days to main centres and 3–5 business days to regional and rural areas.
